Statement of Purpose
We expect your statement of purpose to be not more than 500 words. We would like to know about the art that makes you unique and what you are trying to accomplish. It will also be helpful to know about the stories you are trying to tell and the aspects of humanity you are trying to draw out and explore. Most importantly, we want to understand how these are inspired by your own life and experiences.
Submission Format: Typed / A4 Printout / 500 words
MFA Proposal
Your MFA proposal is the key to your selection for this course. Eventually, the following two years will rely on the roadmap you will present in your MFA proposal. Since this is a non-tutorial course, except few Electives and some Research Methods modules, our team will facilitate and support you to accomplish and achieve the projects/s you have proposed.
We have not devised a format for an MFA proposal because we believe you know a better way to present it.
The MFA proposal we are expecting should be no more than 1000 words. Images/charts/diagrams are allowed to help break up the text and illustrate your ideas.
Your proposal may include
- the area of research that you wish to pursue; project/s that you have always wanted to undertake; creative project/s that you are involved in currently
- a clear, objective, and realistic approach to your project/s
- reflections on your previous practices
- pertinent questions that could guide your MFA project/s
- a road map that you think is feasible and attainable
- benefit to the broader society or contribute to the creative community
- why this research is essential and/or timely
Submission Format: Typed / A4 Printout / 1000words
MFA portfolio
MFA portfolio is an essential step in our admission process. We have not set a definite format for an MFA portfolio. But we hope that you arrange your different materials to reflect on your presentation skills, thought process, and previous practices.
Your portfolio should demonstrate your technical, creative, and conceptual abilities and separate you from other applicants. The Curatorial Practice applicants may include previous writings, publications or curatorial projects. And those applying to Art in Education, you could also share stories of previous teaching experiences.
Level your images with some basic information that could include a title, date, and description. If more information is necessary, elaborate without being excessive.
During an interview, we may also ask questions related to your portfolio. Be ready to describe your creative process.
The quantity is unlimited. More pieces could support your application, but not at the expense of your standards of quality.
Most importantly, we expect to understand our prospective MFA students’ sense of direction and zeal to learn through this portfolio.
Submission Format: Physical or Digital (pdf)
