Kshitiz Gyawali

MANISHA NEUPANE

KATHMANDU, Aug 3 : The ‘BFA Exhibition Project 2014’ currently being held at Nepal Art Council, Baber Mahal, has some really interesting art works on display. All the creations being showcased are unique both in terms of their concept and presentation. But one particular project that has been catching everyone’s attention is ‘Navarasa’ by Kshitiz Gyawali.

‘Navarasa’ is a brilliant presentation of human expressions in which art meets science in a really creative way. Kshitiz has used nine separate wooden boxes to draw nine different human expressions in distorted forms. A steel cylinder has been placed on top of every box, rightly positioned to reflect the distorted images as well-drawn portraits.

Kshitiz, a final year Fine Arts student at Kathmandu University School of Arts, says ‘Navarasa’ is the outcome of his desire to do something unique. Fascinated by painting and sculpturing since his childhood days thanks to the influence of his artist father Madhav Gyawali, he however never showed off his passion to become a professional artist until he completed high school.
