Dis/connecting the page a workshop with Doug Beube

Workshop by Doug Buebe

A oneday workhop was held at Kathmandu University School of Arts, Center for Art and Design, Hattiban, Lalitpur with the
twenty one BFA students of Kathmandu University. The workshop was mentored by Doug Beube who explores his ideas through the collage, mixed media, paper, photography and book itself. He also explores a seemingly antiquated technology that is still purposeful in a digital age. The workshop began with an interesting presentation on his voyage and experience about hisunique creative concept and manipulation of books as his mediums. He presented his recent works and works of his past as the source of inspiration.

Second phase of workshop was a short demonstration about the paper collage and introduction about the ideas to work on. The purpose

of the workshop was to develop a visual vocabulary that is specific to each student. Students work on the paper, cutting, collage,
pasting and inking their ideas transforming the page into a creative works.
The workshop concluded with the short critical analysis and possibilities of the individual works done by the students.
