Application Open for Master of Fine Arts

Kathmandu University, School of Arts, Department of Art and Design is pleased to announce that applications open for the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) program for the academic year 2026-2028.

This advanced, two-year program is designed for dedicated artists, designers, educators, and storytellers who are ready to challenge conventions, deepen their practice, and engage critically with the contemporary world. We foster an environment of rigorous inquiry, creative experimentation, and professional development.

Program Specializations

Our MFA program offers focused pathways to cater to diverse artistic and professional goals. Applicants must choose one of the following specializations:

  • Studio Art Practice: For artists committed to advancing their practice in mediums such as painting, sculpture, printmaking, or interdisciplinary work. Focus on developing a cohesive body of work and a mature artistic voice.
  • Design: For designers seeking to push the boundaries of communication, product, social, or experiential design. Integrate strategic thinking, user-centered research, and innovative visual solutions.
  • Art Pedagogy: For educators and facilitators aiming to transform art education. Explore contemporary teaching methodologies, curriculum development, and the philosophical foundations of teaching art in diverse contexts.
  • Visual Narrative: For storytellers using sequential art, illustration, animation, graphic novels, or documentary practices. Master the art of visual storytelling, character development, and narrative structure.
