Workshop on handicraft product design concludes

Works on display

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: A workshop on industrial design organized with the aim of strengthening and diversifying Nepal´s handicraft products concluded here on Monday. Some 26 students of Kathmandu University´s Center for Art and Design and working professionals participated in the workshop to improve their handicraft product design skills, according to a press release.

The workshop concluded with creative culmination of the work of students, who used traditional Nepali techniques in paper-making, silk screening and other fields to create new designs for the handicraft industry during the workshop, the release added.

Professor Conrado, during the workshop, highlighted the export potential of Nepal’s handicraft industry and demonstrated how improved design can improve the handicraft industry´s export potential.

Kathmandu University will be incorporating industrial design elements into its art curriculum and is planning industrial design workshops and certificate programs in the future, the release said.
