Art Talk by Korean Artists

Korean artists visited Kathmandu University School of Arts, Center for Art and Design, Hattiban Complex for a talk program.
The Korean artists who are working in a media technology briefly interpret their concept and ideas behind their works. The enthusiastic environment was created with the slide presentation that they showed in the session. Lee Ah-ram, Koh Changsun and Jang Sungjin talked about their works and shared the experiences with the students and other faculty members.

Koh Chang-Sun invites viewers to an act created through his works and plans to explain the phenomenon he has examined and its subsequent realization he has attained. His work broadcasts today’s new media world where utopian and dystopian circumstances bring about technological advances that are controlled and amplified by media. Through his work, Koh defines the role of artists as having to enlighten viewers incessantly and break out of the reality that is controlled by media.

Lee, Ah – Ram is an artist who has worked, pivoting on alternative space after graduating a college of fine arts. Her work is based on a critical mind about society, and its main theme is ‘the relation between community and individual’. Nowadays, this subject attracts attention from various fields.

Jang Sunglin is interested in people and their lifestyles which are based on their will and thoughts. Through various media, his artworks express the story of the people and also his story.
