Sculpture Sculpture is a compulsory subject for all students during the first 2 years of BFA course. Then it becomes an elective to Painting in the final 2 years. In the early stages, students work in clay and plaster of Paris to make relief and free standing figures. They learn to make armatures and apply their knowledge of human proportion and other observations learnt in drawing classes. They are introduced to stone, woodcarving and metal work. Gradually they develop creative independence. Those planning to become professional sculptors take on Advanced Sculpture as an Elective. They are encouraged to explore and experiment in any available material to achieve their own artistic vision.
